Project Overview
The Wyoming Trails Carbon Hub (Project WyoTCH) is working to develop a statewide carbon dioxide (CO2) transportation network capable of transporting millions tonnes of CO2 per year. The project aims to accelerate the development of a commercial-scale, open-access CO2 pipeline by leveraging and building on portions of the Wyoming Pipeline Corridor Initiative (WPCI). The project is conducting a detailed front-end engineering design (FEED) study for hundreds of miles of pipeline connecting carbon capture sources to several geological sites. The FEED study includes an Engineering Design Package, Regulatory Plan, Community Benefits Plan, Business Case, and Environmental Safety and Health assessment conducted on an optimized pipeline route. In addition, the FEED study is evaluating the feasibility of expanding the pipeline network to collect, transport, and store as much as 45 MtCO2/yr.
Purpose and Key Objectives
Project WyoTCH combines the capabilities and experience of industry, academia, and government to further a clean energy economy in the state of Wyoming and enable a carbon pollution-free electricity sector by 2035 while putting the United States on a path to achieving net-zero emissions economy-wide by no later than 2050.
