Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Infrastructure Planning

Integrated design of CCS infrastructure using our unique, award-winning software

End-to-end carbon capture, transport, and storage analysis

SimCCSPRO software enables the development of integrated CCS infrastructure designs that address every stage of the process—capture, transport, and storage. Unlike isolated approaches, this method delivers holistic solutions aligned with project timelines, costs, and environmental goals.

Capture

CO2NCORD software identifies CO sources, characterizes streams, calculates capture costs, and evaluates co-benefits such as improved air quality.

Transport

CostMAPPRO software provides detailed pipeline route designs based on comprehensive geographic and environmental data. This includes population density, land cover, topography, land ownership, and existing rights-of-way (ROWs). The software also calculates transport costs, accounting for materials, labor, and land acquisition.

Storage & Utilization

SCO2TPRO software identifies and evaluates COstorage sites, offering detailed estimates of dynamic injection rates, storage potential, and associated costs. This analysis supports informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

Route Optimization

With two R&D 100 awards, SimCCSPRO is the industry-leading tool in end-to-end integrated analysis and design of CO2 capture, transportation, and storage (CCS) infrastructure.

FAQs

Learn more about Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Infrastructure Planning and how it can benefit your organization.

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is a critical technology for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. CO2 is captured from industrial and power facilities, transported via pipelines, and stored in secure geological formations. According to the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), capturing 1.5 million metric tons of CO2 annually is equivalent to removing 320,000 cars from the road or preserving 1.8 million acres of forest.
At Carbon Solutions, we offer capture analysis that includes the selection of CO2 capture points and quantities, the design of optimal trajectories for the transportation network, and the selection of safe sites for underground storage. We use our award-winning software and scientific expertise to provide market assessments, feasibility studies and project design. We identify opportunities for CO2 capture, transport and storage, and provide economic and financial assessments. We also help reduce risks in carbon management and offer support for permitting and certification of CO2 storage projects.

CostMAPPRO software designs transport routes by analyzing a range of geographic layers, including population density, land cover, topography, land ownership, and existing rights of way (ROWs). Transport costs are calculated based on materials, labor, and land acquisition. The software also accounts for social and environmental considerations, enabling the creation of routes that minimize costs while avoiding sensitive areas.

Carbon Solutions’ approach integrates award-winning software, unique datasets, and a multidisciplinary team to address the full lifecycle of CCS infrastructure. This comprehensive approach ensures solutions that are not only technically advanced but also economically viable and socially responsible.

Integrated services are essential for addressing the complexity of CCS infrastructure. By analyzing the entire lifecycle—from CO2 capture to storage—projects benefit from a systemic approach that aligns technical rigor with environmental and social goals.

Integrated services provide a streamlined path to project success by aligning technical, economic, and social outcomes. This reduces risks and ensures efficient, scalable solutions that support all phases of CCS infrastructure planning and implementation.
