CarbonSAFE Illinois Storage Corridor
Project Overview
CarbonSAFE projects aim to address R&D knowledge gaps and develop the technologies needed to deploy commercial scale CO2 storage (50+ million metric tons). CarbonSAFE Illinois Storage Corridor is one of five projects awarded for Phase III work by the U.S. Department of Energy. Companies such as Prairie State Power Station and One Earth Energy could be early adopters of CCS technology if the Illinois Storage Corridor can be developed. Carbon Solutions is part of the team led by the University of Illinois-Illinois State Geological Survey to help make carbon mitigation a reality in the Midwest region.
