Our Services
Comprehensive research and systems analysis for hydrogen technology, including infrastructure planning and integration with carbon capture and storage (CCS).
Carbon Solutions evaluates the costs and infrastructure requirements associated with generating, storing, and transporting hydrogen. This includes analyzing how renewable energy sources, such as wind or solar, can be integrated into hydrogen production processes to support decarbonization efforts.
Learn more about Hydrogen and Energy Systems Analysis and how it can benefit your organization.
Hydrogen has the potential to significantly reduce carbon emissions in sectors such as steelmaking, heavy-duty transportation, and energy system planning. Hydrogen is a combustible molecule that can be produced through electrolysis using renewable electricity (“green hydrogen”) in addition to steam methane reforming with carbon capture and storage (“blue hydrogen”), and can replace fossil fuels in processes that require high temperatures. Carbon Solutions’ infrastructure models enable efficient hydrogen use by identifying optimal locations for hydrogen production and storage, combining quantitative analysis with environmental justice considerations to ensure our solutions are socially responsible.
Hydrogen hub development refers to creating regional centers where hydrogen production, storage, and utilization are concentrated. Hydrogen hubs are strategically located to maximize the use of local resources, infrastructure, and market demand for hydrogen. Hubs can achieve economies of scale that lower the cost of hydrogen production and distribution, promote technological innovation, and drive economic growth.
Carbon Solutions can assist in building the necessary infrastructure for hydrogen production, storage, and distribution, which requires significant coordination across various sectors. Educating the public about the benefits and safety of hydrogen is necessary to gain widespread acceptance and support for hydrogen projects, and we can help establish supportive regulatory frameworks to encourage investment and market certainty.
