Understanding Future Drought in the Southwest U.S. using Machine Learning
Carbon Solutions employees Carl Talsma and Monty Vesselinov, along with colleagues at Los Alamos National Laboratory, just published a paper that uses machine learning to classify the future drought behavior in the Colorado River Basin. Through novel machine learning techniques, they were able to separate the annual signals of key drought indicators into distinct behaviors. The research was published in Earth and Space Science and was recently featured in the L.A. Times!
