Kevin Ellett
Research Scientist
Kevin Ellett has over 25 years of experience in R&D and project management in the fields of energy and water resources. His career R&D portfolio includes serving as Principal Investigator or Project Manager on dozens of projects spanning the United States, China, and Australia with funding in excess of USD$100 Million.
Kevin’s passion is to help industry clients find low-carbon energy solutions and to help advance innovative new technologies via expertise in hydrogeology and environmental engineering. He has been honored as a Fulbright Scholar, R&D 100 Award winner, POWER Award finalist, and recognized for outstanding achievement by the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. National Association of Geoscience Teachers and the Institution of Engineers, Australia. He is proud to be a first generation college graduate, holding degrees in Geological Science (B.S. Indiana University), Hydrological Science (M.S. University of California, Davis) and is working to complete his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering (University of Melbourne, Australia).
Prior to co-founding Carbon Solutions, Kevin worked for a decade as a Research Scientist at Indiana University and another decade as a Hydrologist at the U.S. Geological Survey in California. He loves getting out on the rocks with anyone who will join and making music with friends. He lives in Bloomington, Indiana with his two teenage children.
Fun Fact: Kevin is a seventh generation Hoosier whose ancestors founded the town of Ellettsville, Indiana outside of Bloomington. In 2011 he founded Gener8 Farms, whose name stems from their mission, and in honor of his children who are the 8th generation of Elletts to farm this land in southern Indiana. Gener8 Farms produces organic fruits and vegetables and grass-fed, pasture-raised beef for CSA members in southern Indiana.
