NECTAR
Project Overview
Title: The NEgative CO2 emission TrAnsition Roadmap
Addressing climate change may require constructing hundreds to thousands of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies – like direct air capture (DAC) for example – across the United States. Deploying this infrastructure will have environmental and social impacts, but quantifying these impacts is difficult because there are no fine-resolution siting tools for CDR. This project is focused on developing such a tool. Once developed, NECTAR will be able to provide guidance to policy-makers and CDR technology developers on where CDR could be deployed to meet energy transition and climate targets, and what the social and environmental ramifications of this deployment may be.
