Open Position: Project Administrator

Overview

Carbon Solutions is hiring a mid-career Project Administrator with experience in bookkeeping and managing federal funds using federal cost accounting standards.

Energy applications include CO2 capture and storage, direct air capture, hydrogen, geothermal energy, wind energy, energy storage, air quality co-benefits, and energy equity and environmental justice. We use a range of data analytics and other technical approaches including infrastructure optimization, GIScience, life cycle assessment, technoeconomic assessment, process- and systems-level modeling, machine learning, and policy analysis. The company is fully remote with approximately 30 staff working across the United States.

Job Description: Project Administrator

Project Administrators work with the administration team to assist with the day-to-day transactions of the company and support project managers. The Project Administrator will assist with bookkeeping as well as support the federal and non-federal grants/programs. Bookkeeping tasks include but are not limited to supporting the tracking of expenditures, recording bookkeeping transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records. Project Management support includes invoice reviews, transaction tracking, budget support, maintaining DCAA compliance, and reporting. This remote role will interface with vendors, contractors, and internal staff. The selected applicant must have excellent communication skills and feel comfortable working in an environment with evolving job responsibilities. 

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related degree. 
  • Professional Experience: At least 2 years of experience with bookkeeping and 1 year of experience with federal funding. 
  • Federal Fund Management: Experience with Federal cost accounting standards and payroll journal for job costing.
  • Background: Experience with Federal cost accounting standards and payroll journal for job costing.
  • Software: Proficiency with Quickbooks; Microsoft Office Suite including Sharepoint, Teams, Outlook, Word and others.  
  • Communications: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • ERP: At least 2 years of experience using an ERP system.
  • Soft Skills: Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and enjoys the challenge of learning new skills or subject areas as grant opportunities arise.
  • Passion: Passion, experience, and willingness to embrace Carbon Solutions’ mission to address low-carbon energy challenges.

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Unanet GovCon.
  • Experience in Federal R&D awards.
  • Experience with DCAA-compliant accounting systems and Federal Acquisition Regulation.
  • Strong knowledge of the general financial activity of multi-year U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or other federal funded projects. 

Compensation/Benefits

  • Annual Salary: $60k–$80k, depending on experience.
  • 401k retirement plan with company contributions.

  • Fully remote: Ability to work anywhere within the United States, flexible hours based on Eastern Time zone.
  • Company internet, phone service plans, and other work-related items are reimbursed.
  • 30 days Paid Time Off annually.
