Earlier this year, the Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) Office of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) released their strategic vision. In it, the FECM announced their commitment to reduce the environmental impact of fossil fuels and help the U.S. achieve net-zero emissions. Further, FECM outlined three specific priorities:

• Justice, Labor, and Engagement
• Carbon Management Approach toward Deep Decarbonization
• Technologies that Lead to Sustainable Energy Resources

Also included in the report is an overview (shown below) of pathways for using fossil fuels along with their impacts and the technology readiness level (TRL) of each process.
